There are two types of blinded trials. In a single-blind trial, participants do not know what drug or regimen they are receiving. In a double-blind trial, neither the researchers nor the participants know which drug patients receive until after the trial finishes. Double-blind studies are used to minimize the influence of bias and the placebo effect.
